Public memorial planned for N. Catty police chief

The borough of North Catasauqua has arranged an Aug. 22 public memorial service to honor the life and work of the late Chief of Police Kim Moyer, who died suddenly July 13 at the age of 68.

Moyer served with the North Catasauqua Police Department for 45 years, acting as police chief for 40 years.

The service will be held at Catasauqua High School, 2500 W. Bullshead Road, Northampton, for any community members to pay their respects. Doors will open 5:30 p.m. for a 6:30 p.m. service.

The service will be attended by police officers from Coplay, Northampton and Catasauqua, as well as Pennsylvania State Police, Bethlehem Mounted Police and the honor guards of Bethlehem and Allentown.

All are welcome to join in celebrating Moyer’s life.
