Pete’s Top-10: BC vs. FHS highlight Week 2

Thursday, August 29, 2019 by Peter Car pcar@tnonline.com in Sports

With week one of football in the books, not much has changed in the poll heading into this week’s action.

With the EPC South contests back under a full slate, we’ll get a better gauge of where teams are at. Freedom and Bethlehem Catholic highlight this week’s top game on the slate, while Parkland and Central Catholic should be another noteworthy contest.

Notre Dame looks like the team to beat in the Colonial League, while Northampton hopes it can make a run in the EPC North. With the Week 1 kinks out of the system, let’s see if teams operate smoother this week.

1. Freedom (1-0)

Last week’s rank: #1

Best matchup of the weekend in Bethlehem. Pates have the edge.

The Pick: Freedom 35- Bethlehem Catholic 21

2. Parkland (1-0)

Last week’s rank: #3

Trojans had an easy week one, but run into an improved Central squad this week.

The Pick: Parkland 38- Central Catholic 21

3. Easton (1-0)

Last week’s rank: #2

Not an inspiring opener for the Rovers. Let’s see if they can clean up some mistakes.

The Pick: Easton 49- Whitehall 20

4. Nazareth (1-0)

Last week’s rank: #4

So much for not having game film last week on Pocono Mountain East.

The Pick: Nazareth 35- Emmaus 17

5. Becahi (1-0)

Last week’s rank: #5

Hawks will have their hands full.

The Pick: Freedom 35- Bethlehem Catholic 21

6. Emmaus (1-0)

Last week’s rank: #6

Giving up 33 points to Allen is concerning or are the Canaries actually a contender to win the EPC North?

The Pick: Nazareth 35- Emmaus 17

7. Notre Dame (1-0)

Last week’s rank: #8

Crusaders showing they are the team to beat in the Colonial League again.

The Pick: Notre Dame GP 42- Bangor 14

8. Northwestern (0-1)

Last week’s rank: #7

Tigers get a chance to rebound this week.

The Pick: Northwestern 45- Salisbury 15

9. Northampton (0-1)

Last week’s rank: #9

Kids should be able to reel off a bunch of wins from this point.

The Pick: Northampton 35-Dieruff 14

10. So Lehigh (1-0)

Last week’s rank: #10

Spartans could be in store for a possible upset this weekend.

The Pick: Solehi 31- Palmerton 28

Last week’s record: 7-1
