Grain to Glass
Catasauqua Borough was represented strongly during this year’s The Great Allentown Fair, which ran Aug. 27-Sept. 2 at Allentown Fairgrounds.
In addition to the various farming and craft ribbon winners, Catasauqua can now boast having an award-winning bartender.
Tracey Kressley represented Taylor House Brewing Company in the Grain to Glass cocktail competition, held Sept. 1 inside the Agri-Plex building.
The competition featured spirits from local distilleries including Eight Oaks Craft Distillers, County Seat Spirits, Gallows Hill Spirits Company, Triple Sun Spirits Company and Xplorer Spirits-Kilimanjaro Distillery.
Several bartenders competed two at a time over numerous rounds for judging. For each round, the competition facilitator randomly picked a liquor from one of the distilleries, and the bartenders had to craft an original drink using that liquor. The cocktails were then given to the judges for evaluation. The total competition lasted nearly two hours.
At the end of the competition, Kressley was handed the trophy.
Kressley’s fans sat in the front row and offered her support during the competition. Among those in the front row cheering for Kressley was Taylor House Brewing Company co-owner Fred Pompa.
