Sheckler News: No classes Oct. 14

Wednesday, October 9, 2019 by The Press in School

School will be closed Oct. 14 for Columbus Day. Regular scheduled classes will resume Oct. 15.

Second-grade students will be taking a field trip to Seiple Farms Oct. 15. Students should dress for the weather and wear sneakers.

It’s almost time for the Scholastic book fair to come to Sheckler Elementary School. The book fair will be open for students Oct. 18 and Oct. 20-24.

The book fair will also be held 6-8 p.m. Oct. 24 for families to shop and make purchases together.

A new option this year is the digital payment option. Visit and set up an account, where you can add funds and shop. You can send the receipt with your child during the class’ visit to the book fair and your child can pick up the order.

Students are being sent home to collect a donation if you can for the All for Books program. The All for Books money collected will help make purchases for classroom libraries. Scholastic will match the funds. Donations are to be sent in by Oct. 24. Your act of kindness is much appreciated.

Sheckler’s pumpkin-decorating contest is right around the corner and will take place the week of Oct. 20. So it’s time to get those creative ideas flowing!

All students are invited to participate in the contest by submitting a carved or decorated pumpkin.
