Blues alive: Buddy Guy and Jimmie Vaughan are in concert, 8 p.m. Oct. 13, Penn’s Peak, Jim Thorpe. Doors open at 6 p.m. The title of Buddy Guy’s 2018 album says it all: “The Blues Is Alive and Well.” The 18th solo LP by Buddy Guy, above, is a followup to 2015’s “Born to Play Guitar,” for which he received a 2016 Grammy Award for “Best Blues Album.” Guy, 83, is an exponent of Chicago blues and has influenced many rock guitarists, including Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page and Keith Richards. Guy was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005. He received a 2012 Kennedy Center Honor. Peak tributes: The tribute concerts continue at Penn’s Peak, Jim Thorpe, with “Barbra and Frank: The Concert that Never Was,” 1 p.m. Oct. 10. Lunch is at noon. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. “The Concert That Never Was,” above, includes duets of “Somewhere,” “Something Stupid” and “New York New York.” There’s also, “I Got You Babe: The Sonny and Cher Show,” 1 p.m. Oct. 15, Penn’s Peak, Jim Thorpe. Lunch is at noon. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Kara Chandler and Marty Stelnick recreate “The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour,” with sketch comedy and the classic hits, “I Got You Babe,” “Baby Don’t Go” and “All I Ever Need Is You.” And, “The Glenn Miller Orchestra: A Legend Lives On” is at 1 p.m. Oct. 16 and 17. Lunch is at noon. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. The 18-member ensemble plays original Miller arrangements and modern selections in the Miller style. Vocalist Nick Hilscher leads the band.
