Coplay Recreation and Welfare Association has pushed back its monthly distribution of food by one week. Instead of having the food distributed on the second Tuesday of May, distribution will be held on the third Tuesday of May.

There are 21 families who receive food from the association monthly. The association has received calls from residents wanting to donate food but are advised to hold items until the borough hall is opened.

The food pantry is located in the basement of the borough hall at Fourth and Center streets.

Stanley W. Reinhard Jr. American Legion Post 426 will continue to place American flags at the graves of veterans for the Memorial Day holiday.

Post 426 Commander Larry Gutleber picked up several boxes of flags with wooden spindles from the Lehigh County Veterans Affairs Office. Hundreds of flags will be placed at the grave sites of veterans at Coplay Cemetery, St. Peter Roman Catholic Church Cemetery and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Stiles.

Members of Boy Scout Troop 79, Stiles, have been assisting.

A decision on having the annual Memorial Day program by Post 426 will be made shortly.
