Coplay: Borough tot lot remains closed
The tot lot behind the municipal building remains closed. It is not expected the facilities will open until the county enters the green phase of Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf’s reopening plan.
Social distancing and other restrictions will remain in place after opening.
Coplay Recreation and Welfare Association has seen a modest uptick in food donations from the public since the borough hall has reopened. Although the use of the borough hall is restricted, donations are being left in the lobby for the borough’s food pantry.
The committee at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church will make a decision regarding the annual homecoming picnic within the next few weeks.
The decision will be based on Wolf’s latest announcements regarding the coronavirus.
The festival, usually held in August, attracts more than 2,000 people annually.
The American Club of Coplay has begun its hoagie-making operations at its facility off Cherry Street for fundraising purposes.
The club, however, remains closed.
Coplay Saengerbund also remains closed, with a possible reopening date of July 1 if restrictions are lifted.
The club has been doing some minor remodeling work, such as painting, during the shutdown.
