The Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s (BFTPNEP) Board of Directors has approved the investment of $180,000 in support of regional economic development.

BFTP-NEP owns and manages Ben Franklin TechVentures, Lehigh University, Bethlehem, and the Bloomsburg Regional Technology Center, Bloomsburg. BFTP-NEP leads a 14-member northeastern Pennsylvania business incubator network.

U.S. News & World Report, a leading expert in the evaluation and rating of health care providers across the country, has named Fellowship Manor, Whitehall, as one of the Best Nursing Homes for 2016-17. Fellowship Manor received a 5 out of 5-star rating.

An expanded Christkindlmarkt Bethlehem, highlighted by a record number of artisans, drew 69,439 people, an all-time high, to the Christmas City this Christmas season.

LV house sales leap 12.4 percent

Closed sales of houses in the Lehigh Valley bounced back to a double-digit increase in November, up 12.4 percent to 591 in November, compared to 526 in November 2015.

The November statistics were released Dec. 13 by the Greater Lehigh Valley Realtors (GLVR).

For the year-to-date, closed sales have increased 7.9 percent to 7,260 from 6,726 in 2015.

Pending sales again increased, also by double digits in November, by 12.3 percent to 594 from 529 in November 2015.

Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) will hold Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) programs for those likely to respond to pre-hospital emergencies or those considering a medical career. Upon successful completion, the student will be eligible to test for the National Registry EMT (NREMT) credential. Minimum age of 16 is required.
