An ‘Enchanted’ ‘Dream’: Lehigh Valley Ballet Guild presents Shakespeare classic and new work

The Machine more than Pink Floyd tribute band

The Machine, a Pink Floyd tribute band in its 30th year, has sold out theaters and clubs across North and Central America, Europe and Asia, and appeared at music festivals, including Bonnaroo, Riverbend, Gathering of the Vibes, and Germany’s “Rock of Ages.”

“The Machine: America’s Premiere Live Pink Floyd Experience” stops at 8 p.m. April 6, Miller Symphony Hall, Allentown.

Expect to hear a mix of Pink Floyd’s extensive 16-album repertoire, including faithful renditions of popular hits and obscure gems. States Spin magazine: The Machine “sounds exactly like Pink Floyd.”

Mummenschanz brings wordless theater to life on stage

Now in its 46th year, the silent theater troupe, Mummenschanz, captivates audiences with performances that combine movement, masks, color and puppetry. The group pioneered a daring new form of visual theater, using abstract masks and everyday objects to create a surreal and playful experience.

The name Mummenschanz is German for “mummery,” or a play involving mummers. Mummer is an early English term for a mime artist. Mummenschanz emphasizes whimsy, child-like exploration and innocent satire.

Dropkick Murphys’ Celtic punk

Celtic punk band, the Dropkick Murphys, ring in Saint Patrick’s Day early, 7:30 p.m. March 12, Sherman Theater, Stroudsburg.

The band’s singles, “Tessie” and “I’m Shipping Up to Boston,” brought them international fame. The latter song was featured in the 2006 four-time Academy Award-winning movie, “The Departed,” directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Jack Nicholson. “I’m Shipping Up to Boston” went on to become a platinum-selling single.

‘Sleeping Beauty’ awakens Russian ballet tradition

The State Ballet Theatre of Russia presents “Sleeping Beauty,” a beautiful ballet adapted from the 1800s’ French fairy tale, which includes an exquisite score by Pyotr Tchaikovsky and choreography by the famed Marius Petipa.
