Queenship yard sale set for Aug. 2

Queenship of Mary Church, 1324 Newport Ave., will hold its annual garage sale on Saturday, Aug. 2, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., in the social hall, located at the rear of the church, off Stewart Street.

Food will be available for purchase.

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church will hold a flea market and bake sale Saturday, Aug. 9, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., at the church, 1235 Main St.

Food will be available.

All proceeds benefit the church building fund.

Discussion group to meet July 23

The book discussion group 6:30 and a Book will meet Wednesday, July 23, 6:30 p.m., at the Northampton Area Public Library.

The book to be discussed is "The Memory Palace" by Mira Bartok. Copies of the book are available at the library.

New members are welcome.


The Northampton Area Public Library, 1615 Laubach Ave., will present Bach to Rock, an interactive concert for all ages presented by electric violinist Caryn Lin, on Monday, July 28, 6 p.m.

Community days festival approaching

Community Days will be held July 9-12 at Municipal Park, Smith Lane and Laubach Avenue. Hours are 6-9:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 4-11 p.m. Saturday.

Schisler Funeral Home will be celebrating its 85th anniversary. Stop by the booth to receive a free commemorative mug and birch beer July 9 and 10. Free refills will be offered, while supplies last.

Fireworks will be Saturday night.


The Northampton Area Public Library and Appalachian Creations Inc. have teamed up to refurbish the entrance landscape of the library building, 1615 Laubach Ave.

Siegfried Railroad Station opens Sunday

The Siegfried Railroad Station, home of the Northampton Area Historical Society, will be open to visitors on the third Sunday of each month from May through September and, possibly, October.

The station, located on West 21st Street, will be open on June 15, 1-4 p.m.

The station is a museum housing artifacts from the Northampton area. There are several permanent displays and some different features each year. This year's main exhibit is the J.J. Kleppinger Meat Market.

Atlas Museum open this Sunday

The Atlas Cement Company Memorial Museum will be open Sunday, June 8 and 22, 1-3 p.m.

Located at 1401 Laubach Ave., the museum will remain open each second and fourth Sunday of the month through September.


Northampton AARP Chapter 3915 will meet Wednesday, June 18 at Municipal Park, Smith Lane and Laubach Avenue.

Members must have a ticket to join in on the picnic fun. Tickets will be on sale until June 7.

Entertainment will be provided.

Those planning to attend are asked to bring a baked good.

Paw Prints this Sunday

Paw Prints on the Canal is scheduled for Sunday, June 1, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., along the Heritage Trail Walkway at Canal Park.

The purpose of the event is to bring awareness of rescue groups (and their pets/programs) and educate specific breed standards and adoption practices. Registration fees and proceeds from the day are donated to the Northampton Boro K-9 Police Unit.

The event is free and open to the public.

Northampton community yard sale quickly approaching

There will be a community yard sale in Northampton on Saturday, June 7, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. The event is being sponsored by three nonprofit organizations: Quota Club, Northampton Area Food Bank and Northampton Area Historical Society. Each organization will be at a different site.

The Quota Club's yard sale will be located at Canal Park. There are spaces available to rent for a fee. For details, call 610-264-9786.

Rain date will be Sunday, June 8.

The food bank's yard sale will be at its headquarters, 1601 Canal St.

Library friends to host purse bingo

The monthly meeting of Northampton VFW Post 4714 will be held Monday, March 31, 6 p.m., at the post home, 1204 Main St.

All active members are encouraged to attend.


Northampton's Easter egg hunt will be held Saturday, April 12, 11 a.m., at the municipal park, Smith Lane and Laubach Avenue. Rain date is Sunday, April 13, 1 p.m.

The event is open to borough children up to age 10. No registration is necessary. Prizes will be given to all participants.
