High-tech engine coming to N. Catasauqua Fire Dept.

While the borough of North Catasauqua has an all-volunteer fire department, emergency services have not come without a high price tag.

In a split vote, North Catasauqua Borough Council approved the future purchase of a fire truck that will cost the borough more than $600,000.

Reeling from sticker shock and questioning the ability of the borough to come up with the funding when it will be needed, council members Cherie Gebhardt and Michelle Hazzard voted to oppose the purchase.

N. Catasauqua Column: Young at Heart meets Wednesday

This month's meeting of St. Andrew's Young at Heart will be held Wednesday, Aug. 22, in the church basement.

The group's casino trip to Mohegan Sun will be Friday, Aug. 31. Seats are still available for this bus trip.

On Oct. 3, a trip to Ace in the Hole Dinner Theater to see 'Winderbar" is planned and on Wednesday, Dec. 5 they will be going to the Rainbow Dinner Theater for a show called "Christmas in Paradise."
