The Lehigh Valley’s 2018 Carpenter Cup baseball team was announced last week as the squad looks to prepare for this year’s edition in Philadelphia.

This will be the 26th year of the franchise, as they look to buck a recent trend of being ousted from the first round in two of the last three years.

Two Northampton players made the list in Brittain Shander and Zech Lambert, as the team is led by 10 players from Parkland and Emmaus.

Wednesday, June 13, 2018 by PETER CAR in Sports

Northampton’s Legion squad is looking to replicate the success they enjoyed a year ago following a 19-6 campaign.

Mike Bodnar is back in charge for the Kids, who were 4-1 in action this week and look to stay on top of a division they’ve won the past three years.

Northampton reached the finals of last year’s NORCO tournament before losing to Hellertown in three games.

With experience and youth in the mix this summer, Northampton looks primed to make another run to the finals.

Whitehall’s Saquon Barkley stole the show with the NFL Draft taking place last week, but he wasn’t the only local football player to hear his name called by NFL teams during the draft’s three-day event.

Barkley, the former Whitehall and Penn State running back, who was taken second overall by the New York Giants last Thursday, became the highest selection from the Lehigh Valley since Chuck Bednarik was taken first overall in the 1949 NFL Draft.

Northampton owns a 57-33-4 lead in the series, including three wins in a row in the series following last year’s 42-25 victory.

Wednesday, November 8, 2017 by PETER CAR in Sports

Not many surprises occurred in last week’s opening round of the playoffs outside of Pocono Mountain West back handing second-seeded Stroudsburg. However, what else would you expect from an all MVC showdown?
