Mae Elizabeth Herber, 93, died peacefully in the morning of Jan. 3, 2014.
Born Nov. 13, 1920, in Schoenersville, she was the daughter of the late Walter J and Florence E (Smith) Greenamoyer.
She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Warren Charles Herber, who died in October 2007.
A 1939 graduate of Catasauqua High School, she began working as a lab technician for Lehigh Valley Dairy where she met her future husband through a mutual friend.
They married in 1943 while he was on furlough from the Army during World War II.
Helen S. Craven, 99, of Catasauqua, died Dec. 30, 2013, at Lehigh Valley Hospice, Allentown. She was the wife of the late Paul Craven.
Born in North Dakota, she was a daughter of the late Walter A. and Anna Lavigne (DeMers) Samski.
She worked in the commercial accounting department of the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company before retiring.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Catasauqua.

Margaretta L. Lentz, 86, of Hokendauqua, passed away peacefully on Dec. 26, 2013 in Saint Lukes Hospital, Allentown Campus.
Born in Hokendauqua to late Arnold and Anna (Keshel) Theiss. She was the widow of Anthony J. Lentz, who died in 1984.
A member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Whitehall, she enjoyed preparing and folding weekly bulletins.
A graduate of Whitehall High School, she was a seamstress at Tama Manufacturing in Northampton, and Baby Gro in Allentown until retiring.
District Judge Michael D'Amore administers the oath of office to Catasauqua Mayor Barbara Schlegel as the incumbent mayor begins her third term in office. Schlegel first took office as Mayor in 2006 after serving as a councilwoman. She invited friends and family to celebrate with her after the ceremony.

Virgil is an 11-year-old Jack Russell mix with a spunky and loving personality. He is used to home life so he would love to be back in a home and not spending his senior days at the shelter.
He's a super friendly boy who enjoys cuddling up next to you, going for walks and just hanging out. He is a big fan of squeaky toys.
He ended up at the shelter through no fault of his own and now he's looking to hop back into a warm, loving home!

The Lehigh Valley Beekeepers Association will hold a four-session "Introduction to Beekeeping" 7 to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 5, 19, and March 5 and 19.
All classes, as well as planned field trips to the club apiary for hands-on experience, will be at Lehigh Carbon Community College, 4525 Education Park Drive, Schnecksville.
