Officials at Hospital Central Services, Inc. (HCSC) have announced that Stephen A. Gergar of Macungie has been appointed Vice President of Finance & Chief Financial Officer of HCSC.
Gergar succeeds Thomas D. Fenstermacher, who retires Dec. 31 after a 23-year tenure. Gergar joined the organization Nov. 18 and assumes the role of Vice President of Finance-CFO on Jan. 1, 2014.
Gergar has more than 25 years of experience in finance and accounting.

Muhlenberg College has been named the nation's best liberal arts college for veterans by U.S. News and World Report. The rankings provide data and information on schools that offer benefits and services, including tuition assistance, to veterans and active service members.
"I am delighted that Muhlenberg has been ranked first among the nation's liberal arts colleges in providing support to our veterans," said Muhlenberg College President Randy Helm.
The Lehigh Valley Builders Association has named the "Hancock" model home at Traditions of America at Bridle Path the Best of 2013.
The award is the first local honor given to Bridle Path, a new 55 and over community which earlier was named the Best "On the Boards" 50+ Community in the U.S. by the National Association of Home Builders.
Year-to-date closed sales during the month of November reached 6,153, an increase of 14.8 percent over the 5,361 sold during the same time in 2012.
During November 2013, year-to-date pending sales reached 6,599, a steady increase of 17.6 percent from 2012 year-to-date pending sales of 5,611.
Monthly comparisons showed pending sales, sales under contract that have not yet closed, escalated 43.5 percent over last year at the same time.
The average sales price during the month of November 2013 increased 8.2 percent to $197,784 from $182,848 in November 2012.

Many of us do not view our favorite and common fall flower, the chrysanthemum (mum), as exotic. However, these lovely and easy-to-grow flowering plants were brought to us from Asia.
Mums have been hybridized many, many times to produce the gorgeous array of fall colors that we see in gardens throughout the Lehigh Valley.
The versatile flowering mum is available in a multitude of sizes, shapes and colors. The height of a typical mum plant can range from one to two feet.
Miller Symphony Hall has announced that because of illness, a 7:30 p.m. Dec. 20 concert by the Dave Roper Trio has been rescheduled.

Members of Inez Donley's family attended the unveiling of a memorial in her honor at KidsPeace Donley Therapeutic Education Center, North Whitehall Township.
Inez Donley, who died in January at the age of 97, was a lifelong philanthropist. She was a KidsPeace board of directors member for 15 years and remained an honorary member until her death.
The Donley Foundation recently made a $25,000 contribution to KidsPeace to continue the work of Inez and her husband, Ed Donley.
