Ziemer, a Vietnam War Veteran, was born in Sioux City, Iowa, and raised in Asia as the son of missionary parents serving in Vietnam. Upon graduation from Wheaton College, he joined the Navy, completed flight school, and returned to Vietnam during the war.
The Catasauqua softball team captured the Colonial League title with a 6-0 win over Pen Argyl on Thursday night at Patriots Park.
The Roughies scored early with three in the top of the first, and then Alexis Ayache took over from there allowing only four hits and no runs. She added three strikeouts while walking two.
Erika Lebron, Shea O'Brien and Janae Matos all drove in two runs each. Hannah Edwards scored two runs and had three hits and two steals. Lebron and O'Brien each had two hits and Paige Kogelman scored twice in the victory.

Democrat Bill Leiner Jr. of Coplay and incumbent Republican Tom Creighton of Lynn Township are candidates for the District 3 seat on the Lehigh County Board of Commissioners. The District 1 commissioner represents voters in the boroughs of Coplay and Slatington and in Heidelberg, Lowhill, Lynn, North Whitehall, Washington, Weisenberg and Whitehall townships.

Joseph Horoschak, 87, of Bethlehem, died May 11, 2013, in St. Luke's Hospice House, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Mary (Prima) Horoschak for 55 years.
Born in Atlas-Mt. Carmel, he was the son of the late Julian and Alexandra (Herbert) Horoschak.
He graduated in 1950 from St. Joseph's University with a degree in accounting.
He was in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a licensed public accountant until he was 83 years old. He was a self-employed licensed public accountant, working from his home for the last 35 of those years, until he retired.

Janice E. Mosser, 87, formerly of Whitehall and Zephyr Hills, Fla., died May 10, 2013, in the Phoebe Home, Allentown. She was the wife of the late William S. Mosser.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Margaret (Heiney) Deiley.
She was a member of the Hokendauqua Playground Association, Whitehall Women's Club, and the Red Hat Ladies. She belonged to several card clubs and Mah Jong groups.
