St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 417 Howertown Road, will hold Applefest 2012 on Saturday, Sept. 15, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
There will be games, food, contests and bingo. Child ID kits will be available from the Catasauqua Police Department. And, of course, there will be apples!
The Catasauqua Club, 226 Pine St., will serve brunch on Sunday, Sept. 16, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is open to the public and is non-smoking.
As the Borough of Coplay joins with the nation next Tuesday in remembering the thousands of lives lost on Sept. 11, borough officials are asking residents to display U.S. flags.
Flags can be small or large and flown on porches or lawns. Fewer flags have been flown each passing year since the tragedy.
Although the borough no longer has luminaria packages available, the Sept. 11 project "Light Up Your Neighborhood" continues.
Residents need only a paper bag, candle and sand or litter to balance the candles. Place them in front of the home or walkway as dusk sets in.
The Catasauqua Club, 226 Pine St., will hold a beach party and vacation giveaway Saturday, Sept. 8, beginning at 4 p.m.
A raffle will be held to win a weeklong vacation at the Sandy Beach Resort in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Traditional summertime fare will be served and guests are encouraged to wear their favorite beach attire.

The St. Andrew's 2nd Annual Tricky Tray/ Basket Social is planned for Saturday, Sept. 29. There will be baskets to bid on, great gifts, food, baked goods, and fun for everyone at this fundraising event. Organizers say patrons will enjoy eating and shopping with friends and neighbors at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 1900 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Allentown. This church is located in Hanover Township, two blocks south of Catasauqua Road., on the border of Allentown and Bethlehem.
The Northampton Area Public Library will hold its annual autumn basket social Friday, Oct. 19, 6 p.m., at the Northampton Memorial Community Center, 16th Street and Laubach Avenue.
Donations of new or collectible items, gift certificates/cards and money to help defray expenses are being accepted.

It continues tomorrow, Friday, Aug. 23, 6-10 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 25, 2-10 p.m.; and Sunday, Aug. 26, noon-10 p.m.
The event will include entertainment, food and activities. Rides will be offered through Saturday but not on Sunday.
Coplay Community Days began in 1981 as a way to bring visitors to the Saylor Cement Museum and kilns and to pay tribute to retired Coplay Cement Manufacturing workers. It originated as a two-day event, expanding last year to four days.
Salem United Church of Christ, 615 Third St., will hold a flea market Saturday, Sept. 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In addition, the event will include a silent auction with great prizes, a bake sale and good food. Jams, jellies, pickles and red beets will be offered for sale.

A Christmas in August basket social will take place Saturday, Aug, 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Catasauqua American Legion Post 215, 330 Second St.
It will benefit Wreaths Across America for Cedar Hill Memorial Park on Airport Road, Allentown.
This event is intended to raise money to help pay for wreaths to be laid on all the approximately 2,600 veteran graves at Cedar Hill Memorial Park on Dec. 15. The organization of Wreaths Across America has placed 325,000 wreaths worldwide.
