Lehigh Valley Press wins 20 Keystone Press Awards

The Lehigh Valley Press print and online newspapers have won 20 Keystone Press Awards for work published in 2012.

Winners will be honored at the Keystone Press Awards Banquet during the 2013 Pennsylvania Press Conference May 18 at the Hilton Harrisburg. Award recipients receive plaques.

HS jazz band winners chosen

Following three rounds of competition in February and March, the Quakertown Community High School Jazz Ensemble has been named the winner of the 2013 SteelStacks High School Jazz Band Showcase presented by King, Spry, Herman, Freund & Faul, LLC.

The 24-member band, directed by Frank C. Parker, opens for Preservation Hall Jazz Band, 7:30 p.m. May 9, during RiverJazz presented by Concannon Miller at SteelStacks.

Allentown native Rick Braun, an internationally-renowned trumpet and flugelhorn player, producer and vocalist, has not performed in the Lehigh Valley since he left to study at the Eastman School of Music in 1973.
