Councilman supports Weston Solutions proposal

The Press talked one-on-one with Councilman Vincent Smith last week about the development proposal for vacant land on Front Street.

"We spent over three years putting this [Weston Solutions] plan together and ironing out all the details. It's a strong plan because it's been reviewed and changed to meet the borough's demands," he said.

Council President Brian Bartholomew presented an alternative plan at council's Dec. 3 meeting which is outlined in an accompanying article.

Charotin Hose Co. Fire Calls

North Catasauqua's Charotin Hose Company responded to the following calls recently.

Fire alarm

Oct. 17, 11:30 a.m.

Charotin firefighters were dispatched with the Catasauqua Fire Department for an automatic fire alarm at Salem United Church of Christ, 615 Third St., Catasauqua. The alarm company reported the alarm was coming from the community room. A second call from the alarm company reported steam from cooking. Firefighters arrived on location and confirmed the steam from cooking. Staff had already reset the alarm system before arrival.

The Lehigh Valley Beekeepers Association recently lauded Lehigh Carbon Community College for its support of beekeeping and beekeepers in the Lehigh Valley. LCCC President Donald W. Tea party helps raise awareness of bone disorder

It was a tea party laced with knowledge.

The second annual Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) awareness event was held Nov. 24 at St. John's United Church of Christ, Howertown.

The function was hosted by family and friends of Coplay resident Bradley Koch, who was born with OI, or "brittle bone disorder," which causes fragile bones and other connective tissue symptoms. He was diagnosed at 4 months old, and by that time he had already had 15 broken bones, many of them occurring at birth.
