New Catty High School assistant principal ready to lead

Newly hired Catasauqua High School Assistant Principal Jason Magditch has a passion for setting a positive example for today's youth.

This passion is what led Magditch, originally from Nazareth, to teaching.

PPL Electric Utilities is offering customers who sign up for paperless billing through Dec. 15 one free LED light bulb while supplies last.

Customers will receive their bulb via U.S. mail within 4-6 weeks. Existing paperless billing customers are not eligible.

In this second column, I am speaking to Mr. Sterling Rothrock in Lehigh Township. Mr. Rothrock is one of the senior former employees of the Universal Atlas Cement Company. Born in 1921, he worked at the cement company and operated two farms in Lehigh Township.

The family moved to Kreidersville where he attended the Kreidersville school.

Northampton woman shares glass artistry expertise with Catty Woman's Club

Erica Biery Collins of Northampton is passionate about her ability to turn a simple piece of glass into an artistic creation.

Collins shared with members of the Woman's Club of Catasauqua Sept. 19 at Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church the process of glass fusing.

She also brought a host of sample pieces and explained how each was made.

During the talk, she demonstrated how to cut glass. Some club members tried their hand at cutting glass.
