Dorothy M. Benscoter, 80, of Northampton, died Oct. 5, 2013, at her home. She was the wife of James E. Benscoter for 63 years.
Born in Kingston, she was a daughter of the late Gordon J. and Mabel J. (Montross) Steele.
Harold "Budd" W. Barr, 92, of Catasauqua, died Oct. 2, 2013, at Fellowship Manor, Whitehall. He was the husband of Jeannette (Matchette) Barr of Catasauqua for 67 years.
Born in Pine Grove, he was a son of the late Charles and Laura (Reinhart) Barr.
He attended Pine Grove High School.
He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He worked at PBNE Railroad/Bethlehem Steel for 40 years. He worked part time at Sears automotive department for 20 years.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, Catasauqua.
Kim (Haberern) Stone, 58, of Beverly, Mass., died Sept. 29, 2013, after a nine-month struggle with brain cancer. She was the wife of Richard H. Stone for 21 years.
Born in Northampton, she was a daughter of Roberta (Scheffler) Haberern of Whitehall and the late William Haberern.
She was a graduate of Whitehall High School. She earned a bachelor's degree from East Stroudsburg University.
She was an award-winning corporate video producer. She and her husband co-owned a video production company.
George "Bill" William Matthews, 90, formerly of Bath, died Sept. 21, 2013, in Cedarbrook Fountain Hill Annex. He was the husband of the late Margaret "Peggy" Eleanor (Milne) Matthews for 56 years.
Born in Williamsport, he was a son of the late George Weber Matthews and Charity Vanding (Lowe) Matthews. His stepmother, Eloise Matthews of Hughesville, died at the age of 97 last year.
A graduate of Ralston High School in 1940, he attended Syracuse University and studied at Harper College for three years, majoring in forestry.
Betty L. Fritzinger, of Neffs, died Sept. 30, 2013, at her home. She was the wife of David Fritzinger for 56 years.
Born in Walnutport, she was a daughter of the late Silas Snyder and Kathryn (Moyer) Snyder.
She was a sewing machine operator for the former Tama Manufacturing, Northampton, for many years before retiring in 1999.
Patsy K. Polzer, 75, of Cementon, died Sept. 28, 2013, at Lehigh Valley Hospice-Inpatient Unit, Allentown. She was the wife of John S. Polzer for 54 years.
Born in Catasauqua, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Mildred (Teeple) Stewart.
She was a graduate of Northampton High School and a member of the National Honor Society.
Grover H. Bays, 90, formerly of Allentown, died Sept. 27, 2013, at Whitehall Manor. He was the husband of the late Janina G. (Galzinski) Bays.
Born in Lookout, W.V., he was a son of the late Grover Cleveland and Clara Max (Haynes) Bays.
He was a graduate of West Virginia University where he earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
He was a 1st lieutenant in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Before retiring, he was a civil engineer for the former Lehigh Structural and the former Reimer and Fisher Engineers of Allentown.
Sylvia B. Nicklas, 72, of Whitehall and formerly of Catasauqua and Las Vegas, died Sept. 28, 2013 at Lehigh Valley Hospice, Allentown. She was the wife of the late Robert "Nick" G. Nicklas.
Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Edward H. and Mildred S. (Brown) Rutman.
She and her husband owned the former Nick's Bar along Front and Race streets, Catasauqua, from 1966 to 1971. She also was a secretary for the Fuller Company and Reichenbach Oil Company, Allentown.
She was a member of St. Mary's Church of the Annunciation B.V.M.
Charles "Dicka" A. Augustine, 75, of Coplay, died Sept. 29, 2013, at his residence. He was the husband of Kay L. (Snyder) Augustine for 56 years.
Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Charles P. and Julie (Moore) Augustine.
He worked at Gockley Elementary School, Whitehall-Coplay School District, in the maintenance department for 21 years.
He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Coplay.
He was a member of the Keystone Rod and Gun Club, Bath.
Lucille Carmitchel, 89, of Catasauqua, died Sept. 19, 2013, after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Glenn N. Carmitchel. They observed 65 years of marriage.
She was a daughter of the late Marvin and Clara (Schmoyer) Smith.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Gwen L. and husband Donald Zefting of Fairport, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Lauren Zefting of Centreville, Va., and Scott Zefting of Fairport, N.Y.; a sister, Virginia and her husband Robert "Wabs" Chromiak of Catasauqua.
She was predeceased by four brothers and a sister.
