Elsie A. (Kratzer) Bevan, 90, of Hokendauqua, died March 13, 2013, at ManorCare Health Service I, Bethlehem. She was the wife of the late Harold M. Bevan.

Born in Coplay, she was a daughter of the late Stephana and Anna (Groller) Kratzer.

She worked in assembly at General Electric Corporation, Allentown, for more than 40 years.

She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Coplay, where she formerly taught Sunday school.

She is survived by 10 nieces and nephews; and many gret-nieces and great-nephews.

Maria Dechterenko, 88, of Whitehall, died March 2, 2013, at her home. She was the wife of the late Iwan Dechterenko for 46 years.

Born in Austria, she was a daughter of the late Johann and Anna (Wirnsberger) Osterreicher.

She was of the Catholic faith.

She is survived by three sons, Robert and Hans of Whitehall and Tony of Sussex, N.J.; three brothers; and a sister.

Anna A. Semler, 84, of Coplay, died March 13, 2013, at her home. She was the wife of the late Joseph "Seppy" A. Semler for 49 years.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Anna (Keglovits) Stubits. She was a laundress for St. Peter's rectory.

She was a seamstress for several local mills. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Coplay, and of its Altar and Rosary Society and the Resurrection Choir.

She was a member of the ILGW. She was a member of the former St. Joseph's Sick and Beneficial Society, Northampton.

George A. Geiger

George A. Geiger, 89, of Lakeville, formerly of Hokendauqua, died Feb. 18, 2013, in the Hospice Unit of Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was the husband of the late Emaline F. (Lynn) Geiger.

Born in Stiles, he was a son of the late George and Lillian (Grim) Geiger.

He was in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He worked for Mack Trucks Inc., first in the paint department, then in quality control. He was a security guard at Briar Hill, Lakeville.

He was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Whitehall.

Russel H. Wise Jr., 66, of Allentown and formerly of Northampton, died March 7, 2013, at home. He was the husband of Anita (Schindler) Wise for 46 years.

Born in Lebanon, he was a son of the late Rev. Russel H. Sr. and Charlotte (Crist) Wise.

He was a forklift operator for Conway Freight, Fogelsville, for many years before retiring in 2008. He worked for General Electric, Allentown, and for Electrospace, Topton.

He was a member of Faith Evangelical Free Church, Allentown.

MSgt. Richard L. Fies, 82, of Whitehall, died March 10, 2013, at his home. Born in Reading, Richard was the husband of Beverly (Seng) Fies of Whitehall for 31 years.

He was a 1949 graduate of Hershey High School, Hershey.

He was a drill instructor, recruiter and mechanic for 29 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, and was in the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

He was a life member of the Marine Corps League, Hokendauqua American Legion Post 739 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Charles G. Beidleman and Helen E. (Halcin) Beidleman Hawrylo.

He was a 1964 graduate of Whitehall High School and attended Lehigh County Community College.

He was in the U.S. Navy.

He was co-owner with Les Gaul of Geezers Redo. He was an electrician who worked for 34 years at the Bethlehem Steel. He retired in 1999 from both jobs.

She was a sewing machine operator and sample maker for Julius Kayser and Company, Allentown.
