State police break up prostitution ring

Complaints of prostitution brought state police May 1 to Platinum Plus, 1251 Airport Road, Hanover Township.

In conjunction with the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement and the Allentown City Police Department, state police conducted an investigation into alleged prostitution occurring at the establishment.

While in an undercover capacity, officers and troopers were offered sexual activity for the exchange of money, police said.

Arrested for prostitution were:

· Victoria Lynn Schotter, 23, of 340 W. Wilkes-Barre St., Easton.

Police toss out 160 pounds of medications

Catasauqua and Whitehall Township police departments discarded a total of 160.5 pounds of medications during the sixth annual National Take Back Day April 27.

Whitehall collected 126.5 pounds and Catasauqua collected the rest.

At 17 locations throughout Lehigh County, residents discarded a record 1,557.5 pounds of expired, unwanted and unused prescription and over-the-counter medications. The Target store on Airport Road, Hanover Township, Lehigh County, also discarded 77 pounds of medications.

Five locals among 19 arrested in drug ring

Five local residents were among 23 people arrested and charged with drug offenses after a 15-month investigation by state narcotics agents.

Michael Gaspar, 37, of Bath; Mark Balas, 38, of Whitehall; Michael Lehrman, 45, of Danielsville; Shane Wechsler, 38, of Walnutport; and Steven Keeler, 37, of Walnutport, are among those arrested, according to Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane.

Narcotics agents broke up a $7 million crystal methamphetamine ring stretching from Mexico to the Lehigh Valley, said Kane's office.

Vehicle damaged

State police on April 1 were called to Willowbrook Road, Allen Township, to investigate a report of a vehicle damaged.

Police said the driver's side door of a green Volkswagen Jetta was kicked in.

Attack reported

Johnny Junior Quinones, 39, and Tesha Simone, 38, both of Bethlehem, were arrested for allegedly attacking a 61-year-old Northampton resident April 7.

According to police, the incident occurred at 1028 Hogan Way, Allen Township.

Vehicles collide

Coplay police were dispatched April 27 to Second and Keefer streets for a report of a motor vehicle accident.

Police said the crash took place when a 2005 Ford Freestar operated by Mbalu Conteh, 37, of 175 Shiloh Court, Whitehall, was struck by a 2005 Toyota Camry driven by Carol Makovsky, 59, of 4321 Jay St., Whitehall.

Dumping of tires

Borough police on patrol Aril 22 observed someone dumping 15 tires.
