JULY 28

A theft from an unlocked vehicle in the 1000 block of Washington Avenue was reported to police. Money was reported taken.

Officers responded to a neighbor complaint in the 500 block of East 11th Street.

In the 1700 block of Main Street, a cellphone was taken from a bench outside of a residence, police said.

A dispute between a husband and wife brought police to the 200 block of Edward Lane.

Officers responded to a noise complaint at Catasauqua Park and Playground, 501 American St.

In the 700 block of Crane Street, police investigated a noise complaint.

JULY 9

In the 200 block of Bridge Street, a group agreed to quiet down when police responded to a noise complaint.

A disorderly group in the 200 block of Bridge Street brought out officers.

Township man is arrested on child pornography charges

A Whitehall Township man has been charged with possession of child pornography and dissemination of photographs, both of which are felonies.

According to a criminal complaint, Fathallah Smaki, of Crest Drive, Fullerton, a former security guard at Lehigh Valley Hospital, 1627 Chew St., Allentown, showed another employee a movie containing child pornography while at work Dec. 24, 2015.

The employee told Allentown Police Sgt. Thomas Anderson the video, which contained images of sexual acts between an adult African-American woman and an African-American boy.

LCCC offers civilian firearms, Act 235 security officer training

Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC), a certified training center specified by the Pennsylvania Training Commission, offers a wide variety of courses designed for Pennsylvania police officers, Act 235 security officers and civilians who possess firearms or carry any variety of self-defense tools.

Coroner identifies man found dead in Whitehall woods

Whitehall police continue to investigate the death of a man whose body was discovered July 24 in a wooded area of MacArthur Road.

Lehigh County First Deputy Coroner Eric D. Minnich has identified the man as 21-year-old Ryan Sellars, of Lower Macungie Township.

According to the coroner’s report, Sellars was pronounced dead 6:25 p.m. July 24 in the vicinity of 2601 MacArthur Road. That address is identified as Walmart.

An autopsy was performed July 26. Minnich said the cause and manner of death are pending further testing.

Sheriff warns of phone scammers

Lehigh County

According to Lehigh County Sheriff Joe Hanna, citizens have reported receiving telephone calls from a male professing to be Sgt. Todd Sullivan of the Lehigh County Sheriff’s Office. The caller admonishes the citizen for failure to appear for jury duty or respond to a warrant and then advises the citizen is subject to a fine.

Failure to pay the fine will result in apprehension and incarceration, the caller says, then directing the citizen to purchase a disposable debit card and call with the access and PIN number.

A report of a female harassing another female occurred in the 1900 block of Main Street.

JULY 23

The department received numerous reports of legally parked vehicles egged in the 1300 block of Barrington Drive, 1400 block of Laubach Avenue, 100 block of Frank Drive and 300 block of East 10th Street.

JULY 24

A reportable accident involving two vehicles occurred at East 21st Street and Laubach Avenue.

In the 200 block of Eugene Street, officers assisted an outside agency.

At Howertown Road and Grove Street, a motor vehicle accident brought out police. A possible DUI offense was investigated.

Suspicious activity was reported in the 1100 block of Second Street.

Police assisted Catasauqua officers with a report of a disturbance in the 700 block of Second Street.

Police sought information in the 700 block of Willow Drive.
