JAN. 19

The theft of a Stihl chainsaw in the unit block of West 10th Street, taken from a work site, was reported to the department.

A hit-and-run accident in the 300 block of East Ninth Street occurred. The report said the driver-side mirror of a legally parked vehicle was struck.

JAN. 20

Credit card fraud in the 400 block of McKeever Lane was reported to police.

Police checked on the welfare of a male in the 700 block of East 18th Street.

In the 200 block of Limestone Street, police responded to a dispute between a boyfriend and ex-girlfriend.

Officers sought vehicle repossession information in the 200 block of Second Street.

In the area of the 300 block of Church Street, a dog barking in a yard was taken inside when police responded to the animal complaint.

A wire down in the 700 block of Race Street was reported. Police contacted PPL Electric Utilities.

At Arch and Front streets, police stopped a driver for a stop sign violation and a suspended license.

Suspicious activity in the 1400 block of Main Street was reported to the department.

A driver was pulled over for a stop sign violation at Arch and Front streets. A DUI charge also occurred.

JAN. 16

Members of the department repossessed a vehicle in the 1000 block of Sixth Street.

Police assisted Coplay officers for a traffic stop in the 100 block of Front Street.

In the 700 block of Limestone Street, a dog was taken inside a home due to an animal complaint.

Suspicious activity was reported at a Catasauqua playground in the 500 block of St. John Street.

At Force 1, 403 Wood St., abandoned vehicles were tagged and towed.

JAN. 13

A parking complaint regarding an issue on Front Street was filed with the department.

An argument between a husband and wife in the 300 block of Wood Street brought out police to investigate.

A suspicious vehicle in the 1000 block of Bernice Drive was reported.

In the unit block of North Third Street, police received a request for citizen lift assist.

Police responded to a motor vehicle accident in the 300 block of Schreiber Avenue.

A traffic stop was conducted in the 200 block of South Second Street. A citation was issued.

Intruder enters Catty charter school

Catasauqua Borough Police were called to the Innovative Arts Academy Charter School, 330 Howertown Road, Catasauqua, early Tuesday morning in response to a report of a man, brandishing a screwdriver, who entered the facility without authorization.

According to a borough police news release, the incident occurred around 8 a.m.

Police say before entering the building, Rafael J. Maldonado, 37, of 212 Second St., Catasauqua, ran up the street to the entrance of the school gym. Although school security restrained him, Maldonado eventually broke free and entered the gym.
