Bethlehem museum expansion gives visitors more decorative arts to view

The Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts in Bethlehem is the only museum devoted exclusively to the decorative arts in Pennsylvania.

In fact, says LoriAnn Wukitsch, Vice President and Managing Director, Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites, the Kemerer is one of only 15 such museums in the United States.

You may have heard that phrase, intoned by Don LaFontaine at the beginning of movie previews, or trailers, as they are known.

LaFontaine, who died in 2008, was dubbed "the voice of God" for his recordings of more than 5,000 film trailers, and thousands of television commercials, network promotions and video game trailers.

LaFontaine parodied his own career in TV commercials for Geico Insurance and the "Mega Millions" lottery game.

Q. When seniors gather, it doesn't seem to take long before we get to our aches and pains. You must get more than your share of that.

My friend, Pete, has instituted a "colonoscopy rule." He insists that, if a bunch of us geezers are talking about aches, maladies and visits to the doctors, everyone has to change the subject as soon as someone uses the word colonoscopy. Usually, we switch to grandchildren, which is a lot more fun.

But, while we are on the subject of colons ...
