Movie Review: Don't go, go, go to 'Godzilla'

Wednesday, May 28, 2014 by PAUL WILLISTEIN in Focus

"With a purposeful grimace and a terrible sound,

He pulls the spitting high tension wires down."

- "Godzilla,"

Blue Oyster Cult

"Godzilla" is one big dumb beast of a movie.

"Godzilla" has impressive computer-generated special effects, excellent production values and a cast of fine actors.

That can't rescue a poorly-conceived story, predictable screenplay and choppy directing.

"Godzilla" is front-loaded with a back-story about nuclear power plant official Joe Brody (Bryan Cranston) and his scientist wife Sandra (Juliette Binoche).

A summer place

Wednesday, May 28, 2014 by ELIZABETH OUELLETTE Special to The Press in Focus

Allentown arts venues offer classes and fun for youths

Every summer, children who attend Allentown's City Arts Camp spend a week learning about dance, music, art and theater from masters in their field.

The 16th Annual City Arts Cultural Camp for Kids, open to children ages 7 to 11 and held June 23 - 27, exposes campers to learning experiences at many of the region's arts hubs, including the Allentown Art Museum of the Lehigh Valley, Allentown Symphony Association, The Baum School of Art, Civic Theatre of Allentown, Community Music School of the Lehigh Valley and Repertory Dance Theatre.
