Your look ahead at Valley Arts

The young Mr. Bach: The world premiere of "Young Meister Bach," a one-act comic opera by Chuck Holdeman, above, with libretto by Bill Bly and stage direction by Christopher Shorr, will be presented at 3 p.m. March 1, Baker Hall, Zoellner Arts Center, Lehigh University. The Bach Choir of Bethlehem, under the direction of Greg Funfgeld, performs the work at Zoellner, as well as at 3 p.m. March 2, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the German Society of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and May 3 and 10 at the 107th Bethlehem Bach Festival.

'Big River'

Tag along with Huck and Jim on their quintessential boy's adventure when "Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" opens at 7 p.m. March 7, 8 and 2 p.m. March 9 in the auditorium of Catasauqua High School, 2500 W. Bullshead Road, Northampton.

The grand musical, directed by Robert Fahringer, recounts the exploits of Huckleberry Finn (Patric Corrocher) when he goes with runaway slave Jim (Kanyi Creppy) on a quest for freedom and adventure.
